PM Vishwakarma Yojana

Initiated on September 17, 2023, by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), the Prime Minister Vishwakarma Skill Honor (PM VIKAS), commonly known as PM Vishwakarma Yojana, aims to empower artisans and craftsmen across India. The program targets 18 designated trades, including blacksmithing, pottery, carpentry, and weaving.

Objectives of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana:

  1. Skill Enhancement: The scheme organizes training programs and workshops to improve artisans’ traditional skills and introduce new techniques, ensuring market relevance and adaptability.
  2. Quality and Productivity: Modern tools and equipment are provided to enhance the quality and productivity of artisans’ work, increasing product appeal and income potential.
  3. Financial Access: Collateral-free loans and financial support mechanisms enable artisans to invest in their businesses, fostering growth and expansion.
  4. Digital Integration: Incentives for digital transactions promote financial literacy among artisans and expand market reach through online platforms.
  5. Market Connections: Branding, e-commerce platforms, and trade fair participation strengthen market linkages, connecting artisans with domestic and international markets.
  6. Traditional Crafts Preservation: The scheme supports the preservation and promotion of India’s traditional crafts, ensuring their transmission to future generations.

Eligibility Criteria:

Individuals aged 18 and above, engaged in traditional trades within the unorganized sector, qualify for assistance through the Vishwakarma Scheme. Required documents include Aadhar Card, Voter Identity Card, Proof of Occupation, Mobile Number, Bank Account Details, Income Certificate, and Caste Certificate (if applicable).

Benefits of the Scheme:

PM Vishwakarma Certificate and ID Card acknowledge artisans’ skills and involvement in the scheme, enhancing credibility and market appeal. Foundational and advanced training programs, along with a training allowance, facilitate skill enhancement. Additional benefits include tool kit incentives, financial assistance, digital transaction incentives, and promotional support.

Application Process:

The online application process involves registering on the scheme’s official website, completing the artisan enrollment form, uploading necessary documents, and submitting the application. The government plans to launch a mobile application for convenient registration and access to scheme information.
