Axiom 4 mission’s crew initiated biomedical research on immunity and muscle function aboard the International Space Station. Expedition 73 and Ax-4 crews conducted experiments on electrical muscle stimulation and cellular immunity. Takuya Onishi, Situation Commander from JAXA, led the research with blood and saliva sample collections.
NASA reported that the studies aim to analyze the impact of microgravity on cellular immunity and stress-related immune reactions. Crew members also focused on lab maintenance and support activities. The research conducted by the Ax-4 crew sheds light on space-related muscle atrophy and thermal comfort in space. The findings hold significance for advancements in space exploration and health research in the Indian tech ecosystem.
