Empowering Girls: Bihar Offers On-Campus Education to Children of School Staff

In a heartening move by the Backwards Classes and Extremely Backwards Classes (BC & EBC) Welfare Department of Bihar, daughters of regularly appointed teachers and non-teaching staff in OBC Girls Residential+2 High Schools will now have the opportunity to receive education within the same residential school campuses. This decision, aimed at supporting the holistic development of girl students, signifies a significant step towards creating a conducive learning environment for both staff and students.

Previously, the absence of a specific provision for enrolling daughters of school staff posed challenges, leading to many parents living apart from their children while worrying about their education. The department’s amendment allows the daughters of regular staff members to opt for studying in the residential school where their parents are posted. Additionally, a maximum of two daughters of regular staff, including principals, teachers, and non-teaching staff, will be granted admission as day scholars.
