In a recent interaction between Mallikarjun Kharge and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kharge questioned the increasing number of Congress members defecting to the BJP and assuming ministerial roles. Expressing his concern, Kharge directly asked PM Modi, “How many people are you (BJP) going to poach from Congress as ministers and Ex CMs are joining your fold?”
In response, PM Modi delivered a pointed retort, stating, “What can I do if people want to join BJP?”
Kharge continued to press the issue, suggesting that BJP’s recruitment tactics involved instilling fear in individuals. He remarked, “You (BJP) are carrying out this work by scaring people.”
However, PM Modi rebutted this claim, asserting that individuals were not joining BJP out of fear, but rather due to the party’s track record of development works.
The exchange highlights the ongoing political maneuvering between the BJP and Congress, with BJP gaining momentum through the recruitment of prominent Congress figures, while Congress voices concerns over what it perceives as poaching tactics.
