In a press conference on Wednesday, Special Police Commissioner (Security) Deepender Pathak stated that comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place around Delhi for Republic Day. He emphasized that coordination is underway with central security agencies for the event, and approximately 14,000 security personnel will be assigned duty along the parade route and various strategic locations in the city.

Pathak highlighted the deployment of commandos, rapid response teams, PCR vans, riot control forces, and SWAT teams along the parade route and in different tactical positions within the city. Additionally, preparations have been made to address aerial threats.

Ensuring peace in the ‘sensitive’ areas of Delhi after the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha Samaroh in Ayodhya on Monday is also a priority, according to Pathak.

Madhup Tiwari, Special Police Commissioner (Law and Order, Zone 2), mentioned that security has been extensively arranged for approximately 77,000 invited guests expected to attend the parade.

Tiwari assured that the New Delhi district, where the parade will be held, is divided into 28 zones. Each zone will be led by a DCP or an additional DCP level officer. Security measures have been established to address the needs of missing persons, with booths, help desks, primary medical centers, and separate convenience booths set up where attendees can deposit their vehicle keys before the parade.

Regarding security checks at entry points, Tiwari stated that a ‘jama talashi’ (frisking) will be conducted.

As per travel advice, the parade is scheduled to commence at 10:30 AM from Vijay Chowk and proceed towards the Red Fort ground. At 9:30 AM, a related ceremony will take place at the National War Memorial, India Gate.

During the parade, traffic will be restricted on Vijay Chowk, Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, Subhash Chandra Bose Dwar Chakkar, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, Netaji Subhash Marg, and around the Red Fort.

From 6:00 PM on Thursday to the completion of the parade, there will be no traffic allowed from Vijay Chowk to India Gate via Kartavya Path. This restriction will continue on Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and Netaji Subhash Marg.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) issued a statement that individuals with valid e-invitations or e-tickets for the Republic Day celebration will be issued coupons at the stations upon displaying government-issued identification, allowing them to exit from Central Secretariat and Udyog Bhawan stations.

Note: The term ‘jama talashi’ translates to frisking in English.
